Architectural Projection Mapping

This group of categories is designed for outdoor facade projection and building mapping — one of the most technically demanding and visually impactful applications of projection mapping. The three core categories — Loops, Toolkits and Textures — are designed as a modular system that works best when combined.

Video Mapping Loops

Video Mapping Loops are the foundation of architectural projection mapping. These are specialised video clips — not standard footage — engineered to create the optical illusion of 3D depth on a flat building facade. When projected onto an architectural surface, the monochromatic animation appears to change the geometry of the building itself: walls seem to crack open, facades appear to breathe, surfaces ripple and recede.

Originally developed by Alexander Kuiava in 2012 and presented to audience at Space VJ Meeting in Poland — one of the first purpose-built architectural mapping loop systems ever created — this collection has been expanded and refined over more than a decade. Video Mapping Store is the official and exclusive distributor of this content. Each loop pack is delivered in MOV ProRes format for pre-production in Adobe After Effects, and MOV DXV for direct playback in Resolume Arena. Loops can be used directly in mapping software or as a base layer in After Effects compositions.

Video Mapping Toolkits

Video Mapping Toolkits are animated architectural decoration elements with alpha channel transparency — columns, cornices, arches, window frames, balustrades, ornamental panels and facade details, created in a wide range of visual styles: baroque, gothic, classical, contemporary, thematic (fire, water, light, smoke, crystal) and artistic approaches from 2D motion graphics to complex 3D animation and hand-painted frame-by-frame animation.

Each Toolkit contains approximately 40–70 individual animated elements. Because every element carries a clean alpha channel, they composite over any background without visible edges or bounding boxes. Toolkits are delivered as PNG sequences with alpha channel — optimised for After Effects where each element can be placed, scaled, positioned and animated independently. They can also be used directly in Resolume Arena by importing the full PNG sequence folder as a clip into a deck file.

Projection Mapping Textures are static graphic architectural elements — the non-animated counterpart to Toolkits. Each pack contains 500–1,000 individual decorative facade elements: columns, pediments, arches, windows, friezes, ornamental borders and thematic details drawn from architectural styles spanning Gothic, Baroque, Neoclassical, Art Nouveau, Japanese, Aztec, Islamic geometric, Byzantine and many more. Part of the collection is hand-drawn; part is AI-generated, providing an exceptionally wide range of styles and forms.

All textures carry alpha channel transparency and are delivered as high-resolution PNG files. The intended workflow is animation in After Effects — you define how the texture appears, moves and transitions. Alternatively, any Toolkit can function as an animated alpha mask for a Texture, giving it dynamic animation without requiring manual keyframing.

How the three categories Work Together

Loops, Toolkits and Textures are designed as a modular production system. Used individually each delivers a strong result. Used together, they create architectural mapping compositions of professional complexity in a fraction of the time required for fully custom production. The Loops provide the three-dimensional depth effect that makes the building appear to transform. The Toolkits emphasise and decorate individual architectural elements — highlighting a cornice, animating the window surrounds, adding movement to the facade sections. The Textures layer theme, narrative and visual identity across the composition — giving the show a specific period style, cultural reference or emotional character. This three-element system is a universal toolkit for any architectural style and building type. It significantly reduces production time on complex architectural mapping projects while delivering a high-quality visual result.

Animated Facades

Animated Facades are complete, ready-to-use animated compositions of entire building fronts — short motion graphics sequences designed around generic facade geometry. Because most building facades share the same fundamental structure (a defined number of floors, window openings and door placements), Animated Facades can be calibrated and mapped onto a wide range of actual buildings.

If the proportions of your specific building do not match exactly, the content can be adjusted during the mapping calibration process in your mapping software. Animated Facades are delivered in MOV and DXV formats for direct use in Resolume Arena and MadMapper.

Interior and Immersive Projection

This group covers content designed for interior spaces — immersive venues, dome theatres, concert stages and holographic displays.

Immersive Visuals

Immersive Visuals are created specifically for full-envelope interior projection — covering walls, ceilings and floors simultaneously to create a complete sensory environment. Available in 4K, 8K, 16K and 24K resolution, this content is designed for art galleries, event venues, lounges and museum installations. Content at this resolution involves very large file sizes. All Immersive Visuals are delivered exclusively in DXV format for optimised high-resolution playback. Transcoding to alternative formats is available on request for an additional fee.

Fulldome Visuals are created for planetarium theatres, dome screens and 360° dome projection environments, available in 4K and 8K square resolution. Part of the collection is produced as video mapping loops — making them usable as masks or video transitions as well as standard fulldome playback content.

Holographic Content

Holographic Content is designed for projection onto transparent and semi-transparent surfaces — gauze, tulle, holographic foil, transparent screens and water curtains — creating the appearance of three-dimensional floating objects in space. Content consists of 3D animated objects isolated on a pure black background, producing the holographic effect when projected through the semi-transparent surface. Delivered in MOV and DXV format. Technically these are video mapping loops produced with a black-background isolation specifically for holographic show formats.

Cake Mapping Visuals

Cake Mapping visuals are designed for projection onto wedding and event cakes in 4K resolution. Content works with both square/rectangular and cylindrical cake formats — the mapping geometry (UV unwrap) is identical for both shapes. Packs are designed for a 5-layer tiered cake. If your cake has fewer layers, simply leave unused layers unmapped during calibration. If it has more, duplicate a layer. Delivered in MOV and DXV.
